Trump is a demagogue in the modern sense--he panders to the masses. And, though the original ancient Greek word demagogos is sometimes said to mean the opposite, he's that too--he leads his supporters and tells them what to believe. The real difference is that today we assume the masses are educated and can decide for themselves. But, according to the polls, we're wrong.
