popular posts seem largely random

Does this make sense to anybody? Here are the most popular posts according to my statistics, leaving aside recent posts. Why these?

LetaBot’s guest post on rushbots deserves to be popular. The others seem mostly random. Is it because some posts accidentally include keywords that Google likes, or what?

It does look kind of random. But maybe because they announce new things? (e.g. new steamhammer, new tournament (SAIL), new BWAPI).

If you have a statistics page, do you have a distribution from which countries the readers are from, mostly North America?

I would says Leta's guest post and the offline / online learning post deserves to be popular. Can you see the referer of the page requests? If most visits come from Google search, it could be the Google indexing scoring these posts high. I have made some test searches but I always get the front page of your blog in the search result. Adding Google analytics to your blog can help you understand how people find your blog. ;)

There's a lot of Brood War lingo with minimal presence in search results. Having even one of those could boost traffic to a post a lot.

Where's the post about how the bird related bots are the best. Needs some BirdleWaveJadien.

Jay Scott on :

That’s right, clearly the bird post should be among the popular ones: http://satirist.org/ai/starcraft/blog/archives/280-McRave-and-Microwave.html

Dans humor is so dry it hurts sometimes.

I posted my guest post on the TeamLiquid blog as well and IIRC I linked to that blog post in my TeamLiquid post.
