I live in a university town. The student culture calls for heavy partying on weekend nights. On commencement day, some new graduates go drinking to celebrate. I have seen them emerge, unsteadily, from a bar in the afternoon, and announce surprise at the possibility of being drunk by daylight.

And this after four years of college.
