A neuron in the human brain transmits information at the rate of a few bits a second, at best. Fortunately, a brain has maybe 100,000,000,000 of them, so people can see and think and so on.

Curiously, humans also store information away in long term memory at a rate of a few bits a second. This explains why humans know so little: all their memories are stored in one brain cell.
