Police chief Gates said that he initially thought that the Los Angeles police
could handle the riots on their own, so he rejected federal help. Yet at the
very beginning of the violence, police teams turned away from the action
because, they said, they saw themselves outmatched.
See, they’re too used to pushing people around. They’ve forgotten how to keep
their lies straight.
