The most prestigious Japanese high schools, according to a letter to Science in the 16 April edition, spend one full year of the three year curriculum on the study of test-taking. Passing a university entrance exam is what counts; after that you get a free ride.

So that’s America’s problem. We need to rely more heavily on the SAT.
