11 January 2000 - Chechnya: war of lies

< yesterday -- tomorrow >

Chechen militants counterattacked in the war of lies today, claiming “The battered Russian advance has been frozen in its bloody footprints. Today Grozny, tomorrow Moscow!” Acting Russian President Rah Rah S. Putin downplayed the remarks, saying only, “A few soldiers have skinned their knees. The side of right and justice will win the battle in two or three days, just like last time.”

The first casualty of war had no comment.
