14 September 2000 - scripted RATS

< yesterday -- tomorrow >

Ha ha! Did you catch the “subliminable” RATS ad flap? My secret control of the world’s news is already paying off! Who else would subliminally advertise Rydberg Atom TOF Spectroscopy?

clue:

Candidate George Bush has been accused of subliminal advertising on the basis of an ad attacking his opponent in which “RATS” appears for one frame. Thanks to local literacy efforts, Bush is able to pronounce the word “subliminal” as “subliminable”.

A Rydberg atom (not to be confused with a Ratbert aroma) is one with an outer electron so far out that it’s barely attached, similar to some political candidates. TOF here stands for “time of flight”.

On second thought... don’t worry about the funny physics jargon.

give me a clue so sweet and true
