Wimpy American fundamentalists prefer Christianity over evolution. Big deal—most people prefer Britney Spears over any of that science spilth. Compare the Afghan Taliban: They prefer Islam over food or even illegal drugs. That’s fanaticism as God intended.

I’m tempted to suggest crusades all around—let the extremists deal with each other. But I’m worried that one of the sides might win.

The Taliban reportedly made a serious attempt to destroy Afghanistan’s entire crop of opium poppies. That’s great news for drug crusaders, but not for the subsistence farmers who lost their livelihoods. Tricky one, hmm?
