8 April 2001 - Horace Walpole

< yesterday -- tomorrow >

Yesterday I mentioned Horace Walpole, 1717-1797, may he rest in pease porridge hot. He wrote The Castle of Otranto, an intrusion of irrationality into the Age of Reason and the first gothic novel. Thus the evil Horace Walpole is personally responsible for afflicting our once-joyful cities with millions of pale black-clad angst-ridden goths. What a meanie!

The damage is done, but still we owe a duty to the future. We must protect this, the Age of Craziness, from any intrusion of sanity. Alan Greenspan must go!
