Math literacy, computer literacy, media literacy, multiple-choice literacy—these flash-in-the-pan literacies are nothing more than fool’s gold that will soon wash from the brain pan. Here at the School for Literacy Studies Literacy, we’ve decided to go back to basics: Old-fashioned literary literacy, starting with Homer. At the end of the year, anyone who can’t recite the Odyssey is held back.
