27 February 2008 - competition to cooperation

One of the great accomplishments of civilization is to fold competition between entities into cooperation at the system level, as when businesses fight for profit and end up creating an efficient economy, or parties to a lawsuit fight to create a fair outcome, or two nations war to keep historians happy—a great result, but when I am king of the world I will cut to the root and decree cooperation from the beginning. Traitors who complain that people are then competing to fulfill my whims will be executed.
