Eugenics Made Sophisticated

Eugenics is, of course, famously cruel. But with genetic engineering coming into view, we can improve our genes without resort to old-fashioned selective breeding. As genetic diseases are defeated one by one, opposing attitudes will gradually change. So let’s take a poll: How many decades before embryo screening is required by law? Two, or three?


In some countries, embryo screening is illegal even to prevent genetic diseases that the parents are at high risk of.
