Don’t say that the Middle East and North Africa are boiling over, say that they’re undergoing a phase transition. The immediate cause was a nucleating event, but the ultimate cause was that the economic temperature is now high enough. The last places on Earth to see the vapors of decadence will be the refrigerated leftovers from the Cold War.
