Democratic politician: How can we harvest—er, harness this energy?
Smart: Well, how much is unhappiness of the moment and how much is deeper dissatisfaction with you personally?
protestor: I can get you some opinions on that! Lemme make a post....
Democrat: Well, with the current temper in Washington—
Smart: Who wants new policies, and who wants a new and more responsive policy-making apparatus? Is it just more grumbling, or is it the next stage in the democratic sweep that started with the Industrial Revolution?
protestor: Ooh!
Democrat: Democratic sweep, that sounds nice.
Smart: ’Cause if all you do is vote the bums out, your own bums still have to work within the system.
protestor: Aw man, don’t kill my hope!
Democrat: Let’s see, first the pollster and then the spin artist....
