16 February 2013 - meteor defense

< yesterday -- tomorrow >

humans: Uh oh, a damaging meteorite strike, that’s bad.
space aliens: Ha! This will teach you pitiful creatures to defend your planet!
humans: The last time this happened was 1908 in Tunguska.
space aliens: We did that too. We’re going to keep hitting you until you finally come to your senses and put a stop to it.
humans: Why are you picking on Russia?
space aliens: There’s no point in hitting people who don’t care. Only people with an interest will learn.
humans: You don’t watch us very closely, do you?
space aliens: Don’t get it backwards! You don’t insult us, we insult you!
humans: Oh well, guess we’d better get to work then.
space aliens: We’ll be back! Reloading the space gun only takes a hundred years!

clue:

This is the biggest meteor to reach Earth since Tunguska, but it is not the only one since then to cause damage on the ground.

The aliens refer obliquely to Konstantin Tsiolkovsky (1857-1935) and to the Soviet space program.

give me a clue so sweet and true
