Greed and Ignorance, Just Like the Stock Market

Most people have no idea how much Google knows about them; they think of searches and the contents of Google accounts and stop there. But Google Analytics is on the majority of popular websites, meaning that Google sees every click by every visitor. Millions of other websites serve Google ads or use Google developer tools and also feed information. Google Chrome has hundreds of millions of users and reminds Google about them when it self-updates every day. Then there’s Google’s public DNS service and—the bottom line is that Google sees a large proportion of the entire world’s internet behavior.

We allowed such a thing to come into being, we must face the consequences in full knowledge of ooh, shiny! I want!

clue:

Don’t forget Facebook, Amazon, and Apple. China’s government understands how much Google knows; dealing with the company was part of their own information dominance strategy.
