Why do movies have a happy end? You may ask how many tickets they’ll sell if people coming out of the last movie look gloomy. Or maybe it’s just that we want a contrast with life, which doesn’t have a happy end. Though it turns out that happy ends are so much in demand that we invented heaven to provide a happy end for life, so maybe that’s not it either. My advice is to forget the whole thing, go buy an ugly parrot that will outlive you by 200 years and surf the internet for pictures of cute kittens that will die before you.
