Surveys reveal that 200% more people now accept “200% more” as identical to “200% as many”.

100% as many - the same number
200% as many - twice as many
100% more - twice as many
200% more - three times as many - you’d think

Actual usage is so different from logical usage that I recommend avoiding both: Say “twice as many” or the like.
