There is a problem with understanding capitalism. The problem is that no one does it. Those in favor assume that capitalism is some kind of system that we have, and they like it. Those against assume that capitalism is some kind of system that we have, and they are displeased. No group agrees on a coherent ideology so they can be for or against anything in particular.
