In between the ocean depths and the depths of outer space falls—I mean, rises the surface of Earth. Our metaphors, like Einstein’s gravity but with the opposite effect of placing ourselves at the top, distort space. If humans think so much of themselves, no wonder they worry about being replaced by robots.
