You can predict results in the short run. If you drop the glass, it will break. You cannot predict in the long run. One piece will skitter under the sofa and shelter the spider whose offspring eat the competitors of the butterfly that flaps its wings and changes the world. But in the short run, all you have to do is survive; only the long run truly matters.
