18 February 2021 - resilience

< yesterday -- tomorrow >

The Daily Whale, always ahead of its time, called for resilient supply chains a decade ago. The world is catching up, and to stay ahead I need to take back the advice. The most efficient supply chains are usually brittle. Insist on a resilient supplier network, and most of the time you will gradually fall behind the efficient competition. You gain ground when things go wrong, but that happens rarely and unpredictably. In other words, reducing risk increases your risk. What if nothing goes wrong?
