As Russia surrounds Ukraine like the kraken, armed and dangerous, Mr. Putin, with explosive self-control, imagines the coming bombardment as thunderous applause. Yet others see the breadbasket as a parlous parlor, however small the spider, that will exhibit conduct unbecoming a loser. Will it be all it's cracked down to be?
