Many argue that an invasion of Ukraine will bring Russia victories in the short run and hardship in the long run. Some continue the reasoning: Therefore it won't happen. But then, Russians famously tolerate hardship. Meanwhile, Putin is 69 and has grown pudgy, which he never wanted. His victories only need to last as long as he does.
