7 September 2023 - software spies

< yesterday -- tomorrow >

In the internet age, most software spies on you. But you can protect yourself. If you sometimes download dodgy games, add files of fake credit card numbers and banking details--all plainly labeled as fake, of course; criminal software won't notice. If a hostile government is after you, spin up a personal spambot to post pro-regime messages to little-read blogs in that country. For advertisers, a background browser can look at random stuff to confuse them. And if you use open-source software... well, they only care that their software works. Don't crash anything and you're invisible enough.
