Apple: It’s something we believe is too dangerous.
translation: It’s something we believe is too dangerous, maybe to privacy or maybe to the appearance of privacy.

Apple: They have hundreds of iPhones they want Apple to unlock.
translation: So far.

Apple: We’ve built progressively stronger protections into our products.
translation: But we still let a locked phone update its software, a security lapse that the FBI wants to take advantage of.

clue:

To me, Apple comes off sounding honest and direct compared to the FBI, but they do skip over a key point or two.

give me a clue so sweet and true
