Democracy is robust in nature, once it has settled in and grown its
roots deep into the culture. Corrupt its institutions and take away
its sunlight and it may die back, but the people know what they want
and will not stop seeking it. The only way to kill it is to take away
its wealth. What will you vote for, the system that wants stability
or the system that is stable because it adapts?

That’s why offering economic benefits to North Korea is a weak lure:
They know that poor people are easier to rule over.
