Here’s an argument for the weakness of democracy: Who do you distrust less, elected Congress or appointed judges? Most Americans take their problems to court, not to the legislature, so obviously a government appointed on the basis of ability is more effective.

I think judges do less damage because they can decide only the cases that are brought to them. To cure Congress, put the same restriction on them.
