Sure, we all know quantum mechanics, but when was the last time you tried to use it? The theory is so theoretical that practice can be impractical.
I predict that in the end we'll have a complete and accurate Grand Unified Theory, like a 1:1 scale model of the universe, and we'll need to look at the real world to make sense of the theory.
