7 August 1999 - real impostor

< yesterday -- tomorrow >

Aw, I was just joshin’ ya. You’re not really the only person who feels like a fraud, or like the one kid in a world of grownups. Y’know what I think? I think secretly ’most everybody feels that way. When Mister Bill’s up there at the podium telling the assembled microphones that we must, we will secure the future of America’s whatever-it-is-this-week, he looks like he’s booked solid with fervid fervor and stuff. But inside he’s got some hefty doubts scheduled, y’know? He’s thinkin’, “Are all these real people gonna fall for the act?”

’Course, the rest of us don’t have his disadvantages. We have a chance to fool ’em.
