4 October 2000 - ultimate protection

< yesterday -- tomorrow >

Gunfire on the streets, that’s dangerous. The traditional way for the rest of the world to protect itself would be to sterilize the infected Middle East area, stuff like flatten the towns with fuel-air explosives, nuke the holy sites, sow the fields with salts of plutonium. You know, milquetoast version 1.0, used to happen all the time.

In modern times we’ve become more aggressive and sophisticated in matters of safety. We’ve realized that a television camera is the ultimate protection, provided somebody else is carrying it.
