2 March 2003 - hawk and dove
< yesterday --
tomorrow >
hawk: What’s all this political holdup? Why can’t we just
get on with the job of making the world safe for demo monkeys?
dove: War can never make us safer.
hawk: Oh? Do you have an alternative policy to address the
threats of state terrorism, weapons proliferation, and regional
destabilization? Don’t you want Iraq to have a humane government
and more kielbasa?
dove: Yes, international sanctions are hurting the Iraqi
people and should be removed. Then nobody will have an excuse to
fight.
hawk: You are outright evil! Saddam Hussein can invent all
the excuses he needs to invade his neighbors, and he’ll do it.
dove: That won’t happen, but if it did, the Iraqi people
could protest. It’s not my government. After all, it takes two
to fight.
hawk: Grrr! Take that! Every bleeding heart needs a wounded knee!
dove: Ow! That does it! I’m calling a march!
