In the internet age, you no longer need to store your data yourself. Somebody else will be glad to do it for you. And why stop with computer data? It will be convenient to upload your memories, so that somebody else has to worry about backups and reliable electricity and all that. And if you happen to occasionally remember an advertisement instead of a real event, well, that beats paying money, right?

The popularity of services like Gmail (Google) and .Mac (Apple) does not make sense to me. Don’t people want to control their own data?
