20 September 2007 - Andrew Meyer

< yesterday -- tomorrow >

Weird: Let’s go! Let’s go! Where’s Senator Kerry speaking next? I want to be famous too!
Smart: You don’t think it’s about free speech?
Weird: Free speech belongs to those who own a video camera. Like this one!
Smart: And the taser doesn’t bother you?
Weird: I gave up music, my body has become non-conducting.
Smart: Well then, I guess you’re fully prepared for modern American participatory demagoguery, where the rude and the vicious fight to be the least unappealing.
Poet: It’s coming to that, isn’t it?
Smart: This democracy survived a civil war. It can survive the bringing to light of normal police behavior.
Weird: The great thing about video is that it makes historical re-enactments so much easier!

clue:

Re the arrest and tasering of Andrew Meyer at a talk by Kerry, an event at which no party behaved well, except perhaps the camera operators.
