We do eventually have to stop the smart weapons too, though. They’ll be truly autonomous when they can recognize enemy military targets on their own and attack without instructions from home—their radios will be jammed, of course. But as obedient machines, they, unlike soldiers, will adhere to the Geneva Conventions, and humanity won’t stand for such a collapse of the ancient norms of war.
