We may take the universe as executing a large computation. Can we figure out what the Programmer is doing? First, quantum entanglement is clearly a shortcut to speed things up; don’t calculate quantum properties until they are truly needed. Second, dark energy and dark matter dominate. On the face of it, ordinary matter and energy are a correction factor, perhaps to fix the deviations caused by entanglement. If so, then you and I are part of a second order correction factor. We had better work hard if we want to get the right result and not see the run terminated early.
