The Old Friends Can and Road

What is the most important diplomatic skill? Is it the insight to understand the points of view of all sides, the cleverness to find unexpected solutions, the courage to propose radical ideas? Is it respect or patience? Is it spying to learn their true intent? According to decades of international experience, the key skill is vagueness, the ability to avoid solving problems by appearing to agree on everything while agreeing on nothing.
