The early stone age could not have predicted the Neolithic Revolution and its effects. History was a guide for most topics, but not for the organization of society. In the future, as the world changes faster and grows ever stranger, the duration of history that is worth remembering will shrink until it reaches its quantum zero point, the Planck time. We call that point, because it brings together such a multiplicity of ideas, the Singularity.
