I thought about applying for NATO membership myself, but it turned
out I didn’t need to. Russia had no objection.

Former Warsaw Pact countries Hungary, Poland and the Czech Republic
became NATO members a couple days ago. They’re looking for security,
and a likely source of instability is Russia—which feels threatened
by the expansion of NATO. Can’t resist that kinda irony.
