3 July 1999 - Fasten Seatbelt

< yesterday -- tomorrow >

After an airline flight, I rode the same hotel van as the jet’s crew. I was the only one to fasten my seatbelt. That made me think. I thought that safety attitudes may differ from safety policies. I thought, why have policies at all if they work like this? I thought there’s a reason that the heavens don’t display a giant Fasten Seatbelt sign. The only thing I couldn’t think of was a way to walk home.
